The third installment of the Spirit of Gobi Contemporary Art and Electronic Music Festival will be held under the theme of Sun of the Placid World at the beautiful landmark Tsagaan Suvraga of Dundgovi province. This year’s concept Sun of the Placid World comes from the widely known traditional urtyn duu (long song) “Uyakhan Zambu Tivyn Nar”.

The concept allows for a broader survey of ideas such as Light, Energy, and Time through collaborations with artists.

 

The remarkable urtyn duu, born hundreds and thousands of years ago in Mongolia's vast steppes and gobi landscapes, carries the notions of the planet, earth, the universe, thus significant in connecting with the ethos of the Spirit of Gobi.

 

By associating with the notions of Light, Energy, and Time, the central concept and the festival programming encompasses the exploration of intellectual transformations and creativity through conceptual and spatial arts. 

Artists working within the vast array of contemporary art, and those who seek to explore their creativity through conceptual and spatial art practices are invited to apply.

CONTEMPORARY ART OPEN CALL

CATEGORIES

• FORM, MOVEMENT, SPATIAL ARTS (Mixed media, sculpture, land art, public art, construction design, architecture) 

• SOUND AND ACTION (Performance, sound, contemporary dance)

• MEDIA ART (Video, light works, digital art)

 

In addition to the categories mentioned above, artists and creatives working in the field of science, digital technology are invited to present their concepts and ideas. 

 

Funds will be allocated for the realization of selected works and concepts. The average allowance amount is 1 million MNT.
